Perhaps emptiness is simply that which permits creation.
I am away from my lake for a while ~ I swam in the sea today.
For a while, the surface was busy with little waves, each one arriving as though it mattered.Afterwards, standing quietly, my skin drying to crystals in the breeze, I watched the ripples fall back into the sea from which they had never really left.Slowly the sea became still and empty enough to hold the sky and distant hills as they became perfectly reflected.
Yet, nothing new had been created.
Only the movement had become transparent enough for the world to reveal itself.
Perhaps, emptiness is never the absence of anything.
Perhaps, it is simply that which no longer stands in the way of creation.
